1030 GSE Team to visit District 6760 Tennessee April / May 2008 to be led by Saltburn Rotarian
David Sadler is the team leader and past president of the Rotary Club of Saltburn-by-the-Sea. He is 57 years old and has been married to Anne for 35 years, has two married daughters and has a one year old grand-daughter. David is a retired Police Inspector having served 34 years with the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Police Forces respectively. Since retirement from the Police Service in 2001 David has been Office Manager for H.M. Coroner for Teesside. In his leisure time David is a football (soccer) fan who supports Middlesbrough Football Club. He is also Co-founder of Saltburn Athletic Junior Football Club which recently accepted the Rotary District Community Award for work with young people.His other interests include all forms of popular music and reading. David and his wife Anne also provide a foster home for Guide Dogs who are undergoing training. When in Tennessee David would like to visit Police Departments, Coroners Departments, sporting and music venues or events.
Colin Barnes is 32 and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Harton & Jarrow based in South Shields. Originally from Sunderland he now resides in the village of Bournmoor, County Durham with his 5 year old son.
Colin is currently studying for his BA (Hons) in Management and works for South Tyneside Council as part of the Fleet management Team He is responsible for complying with all legislation, managing all vehicle maintenance and environmental management. Whilst in Tennessee he would like to experience motor vehicle management in both the public and private sector, a vehicle maintenance section within a car and/or bus company and visit the Nissan car plant. In his leisure time Colin enjoys playing squash, golf, skiing, ice skating, socialising with friends and family. He is looking to this exchange as a learning opportunity to enhance his professional skills and knowledge and to broaden his outlook on a social and cultural level
Kathryn Fisk aged 26 is being sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tynedale Originally from Darlington she now lives in Gateshead with her partner Nigel and her 2 cats! She is a Fundraising Manager at The Children's Foundation, a North East children's charity based in Newcastle city centre. Her role focuses on sourcing funds to support a number of different projects that work to improve the health and well being of children in the North East region. Alongside her position at the charity Kathryn also works as a part time lecturer teaching marketing on an evening at Newcastle College. Kathryn views the GSE exchange as a fantastic opportunity to experience life in Tennessee from the perspective of its resident's and views the educational and experiential value as equally vital aspects of the trip Outside of work she enjoys visiting family, eating out with friends, horse riding and running and has recently completed the Great North Run half marathon to raise money for The Children's Foundation.
Claire Pounder is 34, single and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Middlesbrough Erimus.Claire was raised and educated in Middlesbrough prior to attending the Chelsea College of Art and design where she attained B.A. Honours She is one of a trio of education staff at the Middlesbrough College of Modern Art (MIMA). She describes her role as building awareness of MIMA, its collections, exhibitions and the building through a varied and exciting education programme, aiming to work with a diverse and varied range of people from nurseries to lifelong learners. Talks, tours and practical sessions form part of the team's work along with workshops, symposiums and family activities. She hopes to increase her knowledge skills and understanding of her profession by studying professionals in her own field in Tennessee.Claire loves to travel and is looking forward to meeting new people in Tennessee with whom she can develop friendships. She describes this opportunity as being an inspirational experience which she intends to embrace wholeheartedly

Will Sadler is 27, single and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Monkseaton, Tyne andWear. He was born in Derbyshire, but moved to the North East when he was very young, grew up in Newcastle, and now lives in Whitley Bay on the North Sea coast.
He owns Arpeggio Films Ltd: a film production company that works primarily in the public, educational and charitable sectors, and has worked in the industry for five years. His company produces a range of films and interactive DVDs for promotional, educational and "awareness raising" purposes. Arpeggio Films also works with community groups and schools to facilitate the production of their own film from script to screen.
In his spare time, Will enjoys reading, fell walking and playing keyboards in a band. This is his first time to the U.S.A, and he looks forward to experiencing American and Tennessean culture, as well as the exciting vocational opportunities that the exchange will offer.
